I unwittingly began a journey into the vast world of music production. I’d always been musically inclined, but it wasn’t until I discovered electronic music and started DJing as a hobby that I realized I could create the music I’d become so fascinated with alone and from the comfort of my home.

After acquiring my first MacBook Pro preloaded with a copy of Logic Express, I started cobbling together arrangements inspired by the house, trance, and electro-punk artists I’d grown to love. The technical aspects of the digital audio workstation were as a foreign language to my untrained mind, but the music that flowed forth from my creative wellspring was consistently met with surprise.

“Who taught you to do this?”

The language simply made sense to me. The architecture of these vibrational structures seemed familiar. It came as automatically as the breath.

Music remained a passion throughout my formal education. I quickly learned to integrate organic instrumentation and vocals into my synthesized foundation. As my musical influences expanded, so too did my musical expression. Although my focus at university was largely centered around theatre arts and improvisation, I’d begun to incorporate music into everything I did.

Since then…

I have written, recorded, mixed, and mastered 3 full-length albums of solo work under the monicker ‘audio medic’ — I am currently working on a fourth.

I have live-scored countless improvised theatrical productions, both in person and virtually.

I have created dozens of original tracks and compositions for projects ranging from indie features and short-films to experimental theatre and commercial content — all spanning a wide spectrum of styles.

I have played bass, electric guitar, piano, and synthesizer in a multitude of bands, covering a plethora of genres including alternative rock, pop, R&B, comedy, and electronica.

I have co-created and performed in a weekly livestream wherein an entire song is created and produced from scratch within an hour, yielding more than 40 songs over a two-season run.

I have co-produced and edited a catalogue of podcast episodes, creating cohesion and consistency out of a variety of recording conditions and quality disparity.

I have sound designed several theatrical productions, ranging from creating sci-fi sound effects to etheric horror tones — all tailor-made to the clients specifications and delivered in a timely fashion.

And I’ve done all of this as a home producer with a laptop, a handful of instruments, a MIDI-keyboard, a condenser microphone, a cheap audio interface, and no formal training.
